Liezl completed her under- and postgraduate degrees in accounting at the Universities of Stellenbosch and Cape Town after she spend a year abroad as a Rotary exchange student. She served articles at Deloitte in Cape Town and Johannesburg, specialising in financial institutions, thereafter moving to its Corporate Finance Division, to qualify as a chartered accountant.

In 2003, Liezl joined Standard Bank's Corporate Finance division, where she advised clients in the FMCG, packaging, property, transport and agricultural industries on a wide range of corporate actions such as unbundlings, JSE listings, valuations, acquisitions and disposals.

Liezl joined Metier Investment and Advisory Services in 2006 and was involved in advisory and corporate finance mandates, the establishment of a sponsor division and the restructuring and turn-around of investment companies and investment monitoring on behalf of the Lereko Metier Capital Growth Fund, a private equity fund.

Liezl joined QuestCo in 2011.
